My Sophomore year started on 8/25, with a pot luck lunch at our school. The workshops I signed up for are Etiquette, Teen Group, and Drama. Teen Group has already started and we are planning a "Halloween Teen Social" on 10/30. Our Teen Socials usually include a pot luck dinner, games, music, and socializing at our school barn. This social we are dressing up for Halloween. I don't know what costume I will wear but I will be going because I really enjoy them.

Summer vacation started on 6/11. I've spent my vacation taking care of my animals, going to my horseback riding lessons, going to movies, and getting ready for fair.

The 2004 Amador County Fair was 7/22 thru 7/25. All exhibitors had to have their animals at the fairgrounds on 7/20. I took goats, sheep, and rabbits.

We had our formal dinner dance which was held at the American Legion Hall, on Friday, 4/30. It all started with my brother and I getting ready. I wore a lavender formal dress with white shoes. He wore a black wool suit, white shirt and black tie. We began our dinner/dance with a four course dinner prepared and served by some of the parents of our school. Our first course began with Squash Soup. The second course was spinacotti salad. The third course was chicken and rice which my brother called "chicken a la cheese". Our fourth and final course was a cream puff dessert. The food was delicious. We were assigned tables with adults as well as our friends. After dinner we had some pictures taken, the DJ's started the music and we started to dance. At our school everybody likes to dance.

We had a few fundraisers for our rafting trip. We had a garage sale at our school, a face painting booth at the Ione Homecoming, and a car wash at Walmart. We were able to raise enough to cut our costs in half.

I went with my school on a four day rafting trip to the Klamath River. We left on Monday, 5/4, and drove for nine hours to get to the Klamath River and camped overnight. On Tuesday, 5/25, in the very early morning, we woke up, ate breakfast, and drove to where we met the rafting guides. By the time we crawled into the rafts, we were already sunburned. The guide on my boat was Eli. We all enjoyed rowing and Eli was awesome because he let us do whatever we wanted with the boat. We had a great time with him. He nicknamed us "The Suburbanites". We pulled up to shore and camped for the night. The second day was a shorter rafting day. We woke up, ate breakfast, and went rafting on the river. We pulled up to shore and camped for the night. I had a great time socializing with my friends and roasting marshmallows for smores. On Thursday, 5/26, we woke up, ate breakfast, and took our final rafting trip down the river. We packed our stuff and got into the car for the nine hour drive home. I had a great time and will go rafting again next year if it is offered as an activity with our Teen Group.

I am 15 and in the 9th grade. The homeschool I belong to is now a Charter School. The workshops I am taking include Teen Group, Drama, & Etiquette Class.

In Teen Group we organize trips like Rope Climbing, Rafting, Ski Trips, etc.

In Drama we perform plays. The play this year was "You Can't Take It With You", a comedy by Moss Hart & George Kaufman. I wasn't interested in any of the characters so I chose not to participate. My family went to the play because my brother was in it and it was very entertaining.

Our Etiquette class is teaching us how to "properly" greet people, set the table, eat, dress, sit, etc. We are having a formal dinner dance on 4/30. This will be my first formal and I'm looking forward to it.

Here is a list of my 4-H activities:

  • Poultry: This is my fifth year in the 4-H Poultry Project. I am the Teen Leader and my Mom is the Project Leader.
  • Rabbits: This is my third year in the 4-H Rabbit Project. I am the Teen Leader and my Mom is the Project Leader.
  • Dogs: I found a good home for Tatum with a single retired woman and my beloved Cinder was struck and killed by a truck.
  • Goats: This is my fifth year in the 4-H Goat Project.
  • Sheep: This is my third year in the 4-H Sheep Project. I am the Teen Leader and my Mom is the Project Leader.
  • Drawing: I still enjoy drawing. I try to draw a picture once a week as a school project to turn in to my Mentor Teacher.
